I never thought that I would have an academic paper. But I did it by accident. The paper (originally called “report”) also led to my joint work with Professor Dirk Hovy to improve it and to my activities at Bocconi NLP Lab.

Doing this project helped me gain insights in not only what smart speaker users are talking about, products comparison but also some challenges in doing machine learning, especially unsupervised learning.

I also had a chance to present this work at Bocconi University’s Natural Language Processing class as an invited speaker.

So yes, I became an author of a published academic paper and an invited speaker for the first time ever in my life.
